1Who you are contracting with
Vectored is published by Avyx Group, whose full identity and registration details are on the Legal Notice. In this document, “we”, “us” and “Vectored” mean that company; “you” means the person using the website or the app.
“The service” means, together: the website at vectoredapp.com, the Vectored application for iPhone and iPad, the course sheets and question banks inside it, Captain, the planner, and everything else we make available under the Vectored name.
2Accepting these terms
You accept these terms by creating an account, by subscribing, or simply by using the service. If you do not accept them, do not use it.
Two other documents form part of the same agreement and you should read them together with this one: the Terms of Sale, which govern anything you pay for, and the Privacy Policy, which governs what we do with your data. Where the Terms of Sale and this document conflict on a question of payment, the Terms of Sale win.
3Who may use Vectored
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Below that age we cannot lawfully rely on your own consent for the data processing the service requires, so accounts are not available.
If you are between 16 and 18 (or below the age of majority where you live), you may use Vectored, but a paid subscription must be taken out by a parent or guardian, or with their permission.
You may not use the service if we have previously closed your account for a breach of these terms.
4Your account
An account is personal and individual. It exists so that your progress, notes, planning and entitlements follow you between your iPhone and your iPad.
- Give a real email address you control, it is how we confirm your account and how you recover it.
- Keep your credentials to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
- Do not share, lend, sell or transfer your account. One account, one student pilot.
- Tell us at support@piloteautrement.com as soon as you think someone else has got into it.
You can delete your account at any time, from the app, or by emailing us. Deletion is covered in section 12 and in the Privacy Policy.
5Your licence
While your account is open and your subscription is active, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service and to read, annotate and study the material inside it, for your own training.
That licence includes downloading sheets for offline study on your own devices. It does not include:
- copying, exporting or re-typing the sheets or questions to distribute them, in any format;
- sharing your access with anyone else, including classmates or a flying club;
- using the material to teach a paying course, or inside another product or service;
- scraping, bulk-downloading, or extracting the question bank by any automated means;
- reselling, sub-licensing or publishing any part of it.
The licence ends when your subscription ends or your account is closed. What you wrote yourself, your notes, is yours and is dealt with in section 9.
6What Vectored is not
Read this one
Vectored is a study aid. It is not an Approved Training Organisation, it is not affiliated with EASA or any national aviation authority, and it does not issue any certificate, credit or attestation recognised for a licence.
Working through Vectored does not enrol you for an exam, does not replace the training your ATO or flying school gives you, and does not guarantee that you will pass. The official syllabus, the exam rules and the pass marks are set by your national authority and by EASA, and they are the reference, not us.
We work hard on accuracy and we correct errors quickly when they are reported, but you must not treat the material as an authoritative source for operational decisions. Never use Vectored as a source for real flight planning, real navigation, real mass-and-balance or real performance calculations. Use the aircraft's approved documentation and current official publications.
7Captain and AI answers
Captain is an assistant built on a large language model. It can see the sheet you have open and answer questions about it in your language. It is genuinely useful, and it is also capable of being confidently wrong.
- Check anything that matters. Captain's answers are generated, not verified by an instructor before you read them.
- It is not an instructor, an examiner or a safety authority. It cannot sign anything off and its answers carry no official weight.
- Do not paste personal or confidential information into it beyond what your question needs.
- Your conversations are processed by a third-party model provider to produce the answer. What is sent, and what is kept, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Captain is subject to fair-use limits so that one account cannot degrade the service for everybody. If limits apply to your plan, they are shown in the app.
8Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- share, resell, republish or redistribute any part of the sheets, illustrations or question bank;
- share your account, or use someone else's;
- scrape, crawl, bulk-download or otherwise automate extraction of the content;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source code, except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded;
- circumvent, disable or interfere with any security, access-control, rate-limit or entitlement check;
- probe or attack the infrastructure, or use the service to distribute malware;
- use Captain to generate unlawful, abusive, harassing or deliberately misleading content, or to attempt to extract the underlying prompts or content in bulk;
- upload anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to upload;
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your relationship with Vectored or Pilote Autrement;
- use the service to build or train a competing product or dataset.
If you find a security flaw, we would much rather hear from you than read about it later. Email support@piloteautrement.com, give us a reasonable time to fix it, and do not access other people's data in the process. We will not pursue anyone who reports in good faith on those terms.
9Your notes and content
Your notes, flashcards, answers, planning and progress belong to you. We do not claim ownership of them.
You give us the narrow permission we need to run the service: to store your content, to sync it between your devices, to back it up, and to display it back to you. That is all, and it lasts only as long as your account. We do not publish it, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to advertise to you.
We may look at aggregated, anonymised statistics, which questions are most often failed, which sheets get re-read, to improve the material. Those statistics cannot be traced back to you.
Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. We take backups, but no service is immune to loss.
10Our intellectual property
Everything else, the sheets, the illustrations, the diagrams, the 2,833 questions and their explanations, the wording, the design, the brand, the app itself, belongs to us or is used under licence, and is protected by copyright and database rights. See the Legal Notice.
Nothing in these terms transfers any of it to you. You get the licence in section 5, and nothing more.
11Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available, but we do not promise it will never be interrupted. Maintenance, updates, provider outages and events outside our control all happen. Sheets are downloadable for offline study precisely so that a connectivity problem does not stop you working.
The service evolves: we add modules, rewrite sheets, retire features and change how things look. We may modify or discontinue any part of it. If we discontinue something you are actively paying for, the Terms of Sale set out what happens to your subscription.
12Suspension and deletion
You: you can stop at any time. Delete your account from the app or ask us to. Cancelling a subscription and deleting an account are two different actions, deleting the app alone does neither. See how to cancel.
Us: we may suspend or close your account if you materially breach these terms, account sharing, redistribution of the content, automated extraction, attacks on the service, or unlawful use. Where the breach can be put right and no one is at immediate risk, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix it. For serious or repeated breaches we may act immediately.
If we close your account for a breach, your licence ends at once and no refund is due for the remaining period. If we close it for any other reason, you get a pro-rata refund of what you have paid for the unused part of your term.
After closure, your personal data is deleted or anonymised on the schedule in the Privacy Policy.
13Warranties
We provide the service with reasonable skill and care. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the service is provided as is: we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every sheet and every question is free of mistakes, and we do not warrant that using it will get you through your exams.
Consumers keep their statutory rights. If you are a consumer in the EU, the UK or the EEA, nothing in this section removes the legal guarantee of conformity or any other right the law gives you and that cannot be waived by contract. See the Terms of Sale.
14Liability
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for exam results, for a failed exam, for training costs, for lost profit, lost opportunity or lost data, or for any indirect or consequential loss;
- our total liability to you, for all claims taken together, is limited to the greater of €100 or the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
That cap reflects what this service is: a study aid you pay a monthly subscription for, not a training organisation and not an authority.
15Third parties and Apple
The app is distributed through Apple's App Store. Where you install it from there, the following applies, in addition to everything above:
- this agreement is between you and us, Apple is not a party to it;
- Apple has no obligation to provide any support or maintenance for the app;
- we, not Apple, are responsible for the app, its content, and for any claim that it fails to conform or infringes someone's intellectual property;
- if the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; beyond that refund, Apple has no other warranty obligation;
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you;
- you confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo, and are not on any US Government prohibited-parties list.
The service also relies on other providers, hosting, database, AI model, payments. They are listed in the Privacy Policy. Links to Instagram and TikTok take you to platforms with their own terms, which we do not control.
16Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, to reflect new features, new providers or a change in the law. The date at the top always shows the current version.
For a change that materially affects your rights, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept it, you may cancel and close your account before that date, and we will refund the unused part of any term you have already paid for. Continuing to use the service after the date means you accept the new version.
17Law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EU or the EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, this clause does not take that away.
Start with an email: most problems are settled in one exchange with support@piloteautrement.com. If that fails, a consumer may use the mediation and online dispute-resolution routes set out in the Terms of Sale. Failing that, the competent courts are those of the publisher's registered office, except where consumer law gives you the right to sue where you live, which it does.
